My production
and publication list is a long one, but here's just a sample.
The
Curiosity Cabinet has been described by Dundee Prize
judge, award winning poet John Burnside, as “a powerful
story about love and obligation.. a persuasive novel, very well
written.” It involves an embroidered casket which links
two women, past and present, on a fictional Hebridean Island.

God’s
Islanders is my new book about the history of the people of
the magical island of Gigha, from prehistoric times to the
present day, illustrated with a fine selection of old photographs
of life on the island.
Wormwood
and Quartz were a more serious proposition altogether.
Wormwood tackles the horrors of the Chernobyl
disaster. Developed at Edinburgh's Traverse Theatre with the help
and encouragement of director Philip Howard, it was subsequently
published as part of the Scotland Plays anthology by Nick Hern
books, and has become an academic set text.

Quartz
was produced at the Traverse to excellent reviews during 2000,
with Roxana Silbert directing and deals with themes of magic,
religion and bigotry.

My play
The Price of a Fish Supper is a dramatic monologue,
which will be produced as part of the spring 2005 lunchtime season
at the Oran Mor centre in Byres Road, Glasgow. For an extract
from this play about an ex fisherman, which has much to say about
contemporary Scotland, click here >The
